Crime Stoppers of Hamilton is a charitable organization run by a volunteer community board. The program is sustained through the boards fund raising efforts and donations by concerned citizens, business, labour and service clubs. All rewards are paid from these donations and no tax money is used to run the program.

Crime Stoppers International Inc., the umbrella organization for all Crime Stoppers programs in the world, has been granted Special Consultative Status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
